ANAEMIA

General condition information:

Anaemia is a condition in which there is a reduction of the number of red blood corpuscles and/or of haemoglobin in the blood. The result of this is to diminish the blood’s capacity to transport oxygen. The cause of anaemia may be an inadequate production of red cells, but it can also be caused by an excessive loss of blood. Anaemia can also be the result of an iron deficiency. Sufferers may feel fatigued, faint, nauseous and suffer headaches. Some experience difficulty in concentrating and an increase in heart rate.

Dietary advice

Consume plenty of fresh vegetables high in iron such as spinach, endive and other green vegetables. Raw beetroot or beetroot juice is also an excellent source of iron, as well as several other valuable minerals. In addition, soak four dried pears overnight in red wine or red grape juice and eat as a dessert, three to four times a week.
