DIARRHOEA

General condition information:

When diarrhoea strikes the body is depleted of important minerals, which cannot be replaced quickly enough through food intake. As a consequence the body is weakened and the mineral metabolism becomes greatly disturbed. This does not mean to say that a temporary attack of diarrhoea lasting two to three days will occasion the loss of a great amount of valuable fluid, but if the condition continues for several months it could have serious consequences and must be treated.

Dietary advice

I would strongly advise sufferers to refrain from using coffee, tea or chocolate. Ensure that the diet is rich in foods containing B complex vitamins, eg. Wheatflakes, muesli, porridge oats, bananas, nuts, raisins, meat, liver, green vegetables, pulses, beans, rice and dried fruit. Avoid all fruit, raw vegetables, sweets, cooked cabbage, and every other food that may cause fermentation and flatulence. A short fast is beneficial because it gives the digestive organs a rest during which time the bacterial flora can be restored and regenerated. The diet may include soft white cheeses, rolled oats, crispbreads, rusks, potatoes and brown juice. All fruits are not forbidden and apples, blueberries and bananas will have a constipating effect and healing effect.
