| GASTRIC ULCERS General condition information:
A combination of irritation and inflammation of the stomach lining is largely the cause of gastric ulceration. Pain and discomfort within thirty minutes of eating is commonly experienced. The lack of a healthy blood supply to the area also plays a big part, as this of course has a healing effect. The gastric ulcer is caused by a variety of reasons. Over-acidity, flatulence and abdominal distention due to wind denote a duodenal ulcer. Over-eating and excess sugar, as well as vitamin and mineral deficiencies, are often contributing factors. A shortage of the vitamins A, B and C, and calcium in particular, is rather common. Dietary advice Sometimes a fast can be beneficial , or a full milk diet for three to six days. Thereafter, gradually begin to introduce solids. Initially, be wary of dairy products, fish and meat. However, live yogurt with some stewed fruit, cooked vegetables and cottage cheese can be eaten. There is a great deal of natural protein in yogurt, and its calcium, phosphorus, vitamin A, riboflavin and niacin content make it into an excellent and healthy dessert. Yogurt from goat’s milk is more easily digested than yogurt made from cow's milk. All citrus fruits, spices, coffee, tea and pork products should be avoided completely. Remedies Please remember that if you are taking any prescribed medication or have a medical problem, you should consult your own medical practitioner before starting any new course of treatment.
