Janette Greig MAR IIR
Janette is a fully qualified Reflexologist, a full practitioner member of the International Institute of Reflexologists (IIR) and the Association of Reflexologists (AOR). Janette qualified with the IIR (UK) in Edinburgh learning the techniques in the 'Original Ingham Method' of Reflexology. She practices both foot and hand reflexology using Classical Reflexology and Vertical Reflex Therapy.
Reflexology is a technique that deals with the principle that there are reflex areas on the feet and hands that correspond to all the glands, organs and parts of the body. It is a unique method of using the thumbs and fingers on these reflex areas. Reflexology relieves stress and tension, improves nerve and blood supply and promotes the unblocking of nerve impulses; and helps nature to normalise.
Reflexology is a safe, effective way to better health. It brings about a sense of calmness, relaxation and feeling refreshed. Reflexology can help alleviate stress-related conditions, back pain, headaches and migraine, sleep disorders, hormonal imbalances, digestive disorders and improves circulation. It is claimed that approximately 75% of illnesses are linked to stress and tension. Reflexology is a marvellous way to clear these blockages.
Vertical Reflex Therapy (VRT) is practiced on weight-bearing or semi-weight-bearing feet or hands with the patient either standing or sitting. The dorsal (top) of the foot is worked to stimulate the reflexes instead of the plantar (sole) of the foot. It is a short, versatile and very effective treatment which can be used as part of a full classical treatment or on its own. A full treatment takes just 20 minutes. VRT is suitable for everyone from the young to the elderly, and can also benefit patients with limited mobility.
Janette continues to further her skills through additional training at workshops, seminars and practitioner exchange sessions and is available by appointment at Jan de Vries Healthcare Clinic in Edinburgh.
