Goodnight nourished skin!
It may seem super convenient to use the same facial products at night as you do in the morning but, actually, it can be extremely beneficial for our skin to shake things up a little! During the day our skin is exposed to all sorts of conditions, harsh weather, contaminants, dirt, makeup and bacteria so it makes sense to have a morning routine that has products that are able to tackle these problems head-on.
On the other hand, at night, our skin rejuvenates, restores and heals itself so it is good to have a skincare routine featuring products that compliments this. Ready to nourish your skin in preparation for your beauty sleep? I thought so! Follow our PM skincare routine for mature skin below.
Step 1: Remove your makeup with a cleanser
Why? Throughout the day our skin can collect all sorts of muck and impurities that need to be washed away. This includes makeup; it is so important that you remove makeup correctly at the end of the day as if bits of makeup are missed or left behind they can easily clog pores and lead to breakouts.
Our favourite cleanser to remove makeup? PHB’s Anti-Aging Cleanser with Jasmine and Rosehip! This indulgent cream cleanser is fantastic at removing make-up, oil and dirt which have built up on the skin. The synergistic blend of natural ingredients leave skin feeling soothed and refreshed and is especially suited to dehydrated skin types.
Mature skin, as I have already mentioned, becomes naturally drier as we get older so it’s important to find a natural cleanser that is soft and nourishing on the skin, luckily, PHB’s Anti-Aging Cleanser does just that! The Rosehip Oil boosts levels of collagen making skin appear firmer whilst the gentle Jasmine and Rose Oils balance oil secretion and provide skin with a radiant, youthful glow.
How often? You should use a cleanser at least once a day and always at the end of your day as it is an expert remover of dirt, makeup and impurities.
Step 2: Look after your eyes with an anti-aging eye gel
Why? The skin around the eyes is much more delicate than anywhere else on the body and so needs a little bit of extra TLC! Eye gels are the perfect way to reduce the appearance of under eye circles, puffiness beneath the eyes, restore elasticity as well as minimise wrinkles and fine lines around the eyes. They are often packed full of concentrated ingredients that help skin to retain moisture and skin elasticity – a bonus for those of us with aging skin!
Our favourite eye gel for aging skin? PHB’s Anti-Aging Eye Gel with Organic Argan and Rock Rose! This natural eye gel provides deep, nourishing hydration to the skin around the eyes without irritating them directly. The powerful plant bio-actives such as Argan Oil, Seaweed, Rock Rose and Lavender present in this eye gel target signs of aging and stimulates a healthy production of elastin to help skin feeling rejuvenated.
How often? PHB suggest using this eye gel morning and evening and, for aging skin we’d recommend that you do just that! It’s important to remember, to be extra careful around the eyes and that a little amount of product will certainly go a long way!
Step 3: Use a restoring moisturiser
Why? Overnight our skin can become dry and, if we haven't drunk enough water thoughout the day your skin is bound to be feeling a little dehydrated too. Night-time is our skin's time to heal and repair so it’s important to consider using a moisturiser that will aid our skin’s natural healing and restoration processes - luckily we’ve got just the product for you!
Our favourite moisturiser for aging skin? PHB’s Anti-Aging Moisturiser with Monoi Oil and Gardenia! You may remember I’ve already mentioned this product in your morning skincare routine but I love it so much I thought it was about time for another shout-out! This moisturiser is carefully handcrafted and formulated with the purest natural ingredients to help keep skin beautifully supple and hydrated – perfect for nourishing your skin while you sleep! As with all PHB products this friendly moisturiser is completely free from parabens, synthetic fragrances, irritants and other chemical nasties! The blend of natural oils replenishes the skin’s moisture barrier helping to improve texture. The natural antioxidants present in this moisturiser work by blocking the action of free radicals which play a large part in the aging process.
How often? I’d recommend that you use this moisturiser twice daily –in the morning and before you intend to go to bed. This will allow your skin to absorb it overnight and you’ll wake to fresh, glowing skin!
A final tip to help you love the skin you’re in!
While we’ve set out an easy morning and evening routine for you to look after your skin type it’s important to remember that the composure of each and every skin type is different and so different routines will work better for different people. Above all it’s important to do what’s right for you and your skin type!
