A simple evening skincare routine for oily skin

For those of you who tried and loved our morning skincare routine for oily skin yesterday we’ve got an equally simple complimentary evening routine just for you!

Goodnight radiant skin!

It may seem super convenient to use the same facial products at night as you do in the morning but, actually, it can be extremely beneficial for our skin to shake things up a little! During the day our skin is exposed to all sorts of conditions, harsh weather, contaminants, dirt, makeup and bacteria so it makes sense to have a morning routine that has products that are able to tackle these problems head-on.

On the other hand, at night, our skin rejuvenates, restores and heals itself so it is good to have a skincare routine featuring products that compliments this. Ready to nourish your skin in preparation for your beauty sleep? I thought so! Follow our PM skincare routine for oily skin below.

Step 1: Remove any makeup with a cleanser

Why? Using a cleanser can help to remove excess oil and makeup from the skin’s surface. It is so important that you remove makeup correctly at the end of the day as if bits of makeup are missed or left behind they can easily clog pores and lead to breakouts.

Our favourite cleanser to remove makeup from oily skin? PHB’s Balancing Facial Cleanser with Vanilla and Chamomile! When it comes to oily skin it can feel as though gentle, natural products don’t do much in favour of removing excess oils but, with PHB’s Balancing Cleanser this just isn’t the case! This innovative cleanser contains a blend of Lavender, soothing Vanilla, Chamomile (which contains azulene to strengthen skin), and Sea Buckthorn to help clean and absorb all of those pesky excess oils and impurities without causing damage or dryness.

How often? You should use a cleanser at least once a day and always at the end of your day as it is an expert remover of dirt, makeup and impurities.

Step 2: Indulge in a treatment gel

Why? Who doesn’t love a bit of pampering? Treatment gels are the perfect way to give your skin a little bit of well-deserved TLC. Often gels contain a more concentrated formula than moisturisers to help deliver the nourishing ingredients straight into your skin so that they can get to work restoring and repairing.

Our favourite gel for oily skin? PHB’s Skin Repair Gel! This treatment is ideal for oily as well as spot-prone skin because the formula works to calm redness, improve skin tone and heal scarring and damaged tissues. The magic ingredient, Aloe Vera, is excellent at soothing inflamed skin and has a number of widely known skin healing benefits. This versatile gel can be used to gently soothe the body as well as the face if needed. The nourishing Organic Aloe Vera combined with Lavender Oil deeply penetrates skin to help increase elasticity and naturally support the health and appearance of our skin – an ideal option for those of us with oily skin!

How often? Now, if you’re anything like me you’ll want to treat yourself to this lush gel all the time – as I said before who doesn’t love a bit of pampering? But the reality is this just wouldn’t be ideal for our skin! I’d recommend that you use a treatment gel no more than 3 times a week max.

Step 3: Moisturise again (optional)

If you have particularly oily skin and tend to moisturise in the morning rather than at night this might be an optional step for you. However, if you haven’t moisturised in the morning, and have decided to skip out on using a treatment gel, I would definitely recommend doing it now to keep your skin hydrated throughout the night.

A final tip to help you love the skin you’re in!

While we’ve set out an easy AM/PM routine to look after your skin type it’s important to remember that the composure of each and every skin type is different and so different routines will work better for different people. Above all it’s important to do what’s right for you and your skin type!
