Our 6 simple tips to looking after oily skin

Today is the last day of your skincare plan and I truly hope you’ve enjoyed it. We’ve covered a whole host of topics that will have hopefully been useful in helping you to look after your skin type and to love the skin you’re in. Today we’ll be recapping your entire skincare plan into some easy to remember tips and finishing with a fond farewell. We hope to see you soon!

1)    A natural morning routine

Although it’s tempting to rush out the door first thing in the morning without giving much thought to our skin we now know that this can actually be damaging, particularly if you have oily skin. It’s important to keep dry skin healthy and hydrated to keep it looking young and smooth.

If you’re prone to the odd lie in or are running late one morning and don’t have time to brush your teeth never mind follow a skin routine, don’t worry! We’ve all been there! It’s fine to slip up the odd day here or there, and this won’t do much damage to your skin in the long term, however, if you make it a consistent habit you may start to see your oily skin acting up!

2)    A natural evening routine

Next we looked at a complimentary PM skincare routine for oily skin. We explored the importance of cleansing the skin, removing impurities and makeup, as well as a few pamper treatments that will help to balance the oily nature of your skin. It’s important to have a good evening skincare routine that helps the skin to repair and rejuvenate skin overnight.

3)    Looking after your skin as you age

If there’s one major skin concern out there it’s how to look after your skin as you age. As we age there are lots of physical changes that can, in turn, affect our skin. Our skin doesn’t stay the same throughout our lives and this isn’t a bad thing! But, it’s important to change and learn to adapt your skincare routine to your skin’s own specific needs, which is why we looked at how you can adapt your skincare routines to care for these natural changes.

4)    Feeding your skin good food

It’s important to look after your body and skin from the inside out and that can mean making a few dietary changes to accommodate our skin’s needs. Incorporating nutrients and vitamins such as vitamin C and E into your diet are vital to your skin’s health. While the odd bar of chocolate here and there probably won’t cause you much grief in terms of your skin, completely going overboard might!

Now, I’m not saying you should completely re-think your entire diet, but making some healthy swaps can definitely go a long way to helping the health of our skin. Start out slow and make small manageable changes first to see how you get on.

5)    Getting your beauty sleep!

Who knew beauty sleep was a thing? The tell-tale signs of not getting enough shut eye should be enough to convince you! That being said, I understand that getting your standard 8 hours a night might be easier said than done, which is why we instead looked at all the ways you can ditch those dark circles and puffy eyes. Who knew that you only had a few hours sleep last night? No body!

6)    A couple of clever skincare tricks

Myths, madness and weird tricks debunked – who thought it was ever a good idea to put toothpaste and hairspray on our faces? We all love a good skincare hack or two but it’s important to check first where these sometimes unusual tips came from as, often, they can wind up doing our skin more damage than good!
